Get ready to face some severe punishments if caught drinking or cooking at public places in Goa, especially the beaches. As per an amendment to the Registration of Tourist Trade act that recently got approved by the state cabinet, a fine of INR 2,000 or imprisonment for up to three months would we awarded to any person caught in the said crimes. Get ready to face some severe punishments if caught drinking or cooking at public places in Goa, especially the beaches. As per an amendment to the Registration of Tourist Trade act that recently got approved by the state cabinet, a fine of INR 2,000 or imprisonment for up to three months would we awarded to any person caught in the said crimes.
Also, if a group of people are caught in the offence, they might end up paying INR 10,000.
If the amendment is passed in the Assembly and comes into force, offenders’ pictures would be sent over a special WhatsApp number to the Tourism Ministry and action would be taken accordingly.
So yes, no more drinking or cooking on the beaches in Goa.
