IRCTC is working to provide free Wi-Fi at railway stations soon. 700 railway stations have already been equipped with free Wi-Fi for travellers, and the plan is to provide such a facility at 2000 more stations. According to reports, the Railway Minister had earlier met with the Railway Board and decided upon this.
This month, Indian Railways saw Kalka-Shimla section being equipped with Wi-Fi, along with Dharampur Himachal, Gumman, Koti, Kumarhatti Dagshai, Sonwara, Taksal, Kandaghat, Salogra, Knoh, Kathleghat, Shoghi, Tara Devi, Jutogh and Summerhill.
January 28, 2019, saw six more stations getting free Wi-Fi facility, and these stations are – Bidar, Khanapur, Kamalnagar, Halbarga, Bhalki, and Kalgupur stations on Secunderabad Division.
Moreover, Indian Railways is also starting to transform existing trains and railway stations, so as to make traveller experience more fruitful. One of the recent things that have started is the bill-generation for food orders in trains.
