International Kite Festival in Ahmedabad to continue till January 14, 2020

If you are a kite flyer and not currently in Gujarat, you are surely missing out on the fun that is happening at the International Kite Festival.
The festival is being held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and was launched on January 7, 2020. The International Kite Festival organised to mark the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. The last of the festival is on January 14, 2020.

It is a special event and draws tourists from India and other parts of the world. Even the local Gujaratis based in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot also participate in the fest by making a trip from their respective hometowns.

The International Kite Festival was organised for the first time in 1989 in Gujarat. This year, Gujarat will be hosting the 30th edition of the kite festival. It is that time of the year when Uttarayan sets in and the days become longer and warmer. People celebrate this time by flying kites of myriad shapes and sizes.

Since no Indian festival is complete without the presence of lots of festive food, people enjoy during the kite festival by partaking in delicious local and traditional foods at the umpteen stalls set up at the venue. A kite flying competition is also held among flyers.

The International Kite Festival is supported by Gujarat Tourism and the main venue of the event is Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
