The old town of Dubrovnik is the heart of the city surrounded by medieval ramparts from almost all the sides. Considered one of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in the world, the old town is surrounded by huge sturdy stone walls. Within the city walls you can find the historic centre adorned with baroque churches, monastery, Renaissance fortresses and medieval palaces. Most of the monuments have been restructured after the earthquake in 17th century. The best way to explore the beauty of the old town is to go around on foot. As you enter the old town through the Pile Gate, the medieval charm is unmissable. The old town is inhabited and bustling with locals as well as tourists. Walk around the cobbled stone streets and visit historical sights of St Blaise's church, Sponza Palace, Rector's Palace, Fort Bokar, Minčeta Fort, Onofrio's Fountain, monastery and many more. Here, everything seems to have frozen in time since centuries. Soak in the sun at one of the outdoor cafes and relive the history of the ‘pearl of Adriatic’.
