Parque de la Reserva, Lima

Parque de la Reserva isn’t just a coveted green space in downtown Lima. It is so much more. The park is a bit of a historical and cultural landmark. It was built in 1929 and is squished between two of the most popular and central streets in Lima. The park was constructed as a tribute to the soldiers who fought in definitive battles including The Battle of Miraflores and The Battle of San Juan.
A famous French architect Claude Sahut conceptualised Parque de la Reserva. This explains its Neo Classical elements. However the entire area of the park pays homage to Peruvian art and it is easy to find various sculptures by Peruvian artists and sculptors here. Despite these attractions, the greatest attraction for visitors to Parque de la Reserva today is the Magic Water Circuit. The water circuit has single-handedly transformed a jaded open space into one of Lima’s greatest tourist attractions. The Magic Water Circuit is one of the largest fountain displays in the world—it comprises a series of choreographed dancing fountains. The sound and light show put up by the fountains is bound to put a smile on everyone’s face. It also makes for spectacular photographs.
