Playa de La Mina is one of the most popular beaches in the Paracas area and with good reason. It offers incredible views of the coast and sparkling azure waters are everywhere to be seen. It’s in stark contrast to the rocky beaches in Lima and offers stretches of pure powdery sand. Do beware and exercise common sense in the area, as there are reports of pickpockets lurking on the beach. Playa de La Mina is quite touristy, so it is also the focal point of a couple of petty scams. For instance locals might insist on charging an entry fee for port-a-loos by the beach. The beach is also the getaway to the Paracas National Reserve. Explore the national reserve which is home to varying geographical terrains include deserts, ocean, and islands. Don’t leave without a day trip to Ballestas Islands—here you can watch colourful birds, sea lions, and even penguins. Spending precious moments with adorable creatures assure memories that will last a lifetime.
