Known as the fourth largest island in Fiji, the garden island has a typical jungle-like setting similar to the movie Tarzan. This island is hot, wet and blanketed in palms, ferns and tropical wildflowers. Much of the island is protected national park, allowing visitors to glide through clear waters on a bamboo raft, cool off under towering waterfalls and hike along the breathtaking beaches. The hikes on this island are absolutely stunning and Bouma National Heritage Park is the perfect place to bird watch, with over 100 different species calling this place home. If you are looking to explore underwater, there is plenty of opportunity for that too. A diverse marine life and incredible corals draws snorkelers and divers from around the world to discover Somosomo Strait, Waitabu Marine Park and Vuna Reef. Just an hour from the airport, Vatuwiri Plantation offers a wealth of activities including horseback riding, hiking to the top of a volcano or visiting a really old village! Get to this awesome island by hitching a ride by plane or boat from Viti Levu.
