Tejas Express will soon begin its services on the Delhi to Lucknow route in the coming weeks. According to the news reports, the train will ply on the Delhi - Lucknow route by the last week of September 2019 if all turns out to be well. The train will be first of its kind, and will offer global rail travel services to the passengers in India.
The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express is the first train to be chosen under the plan of the railways to allow private operators to run train on specific routes. IRCTC will give lease charges every year to the Indian Railway Finance Corporation for the two train rakes, though that does not mean that the entire train network or the railways will be privatised.
As per the train time table drawn by the Indian Railways for 2019, the new Tejas Express train no. 12585 will start from Lucknow at 6:50 AM and reach Delhi at 1:35 PM. For the return trip, train number 12586 will leave Delhi on the same day at 3:35 PM and arrive at the railway station in Lucknow at 10:05 PM. The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will run on all days, except Sunday and Thursday.
The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express is a chair car train, which is a better version of the Shatabdi Express. It has air-conditioned compartments, personalised infotainment screens, personalised reading lights, attendant call buttons, foot-rest in Executive Class, automatic sliding doors and modular bio-toilets among other features. The train has received a good rating from the passengers.
