Italy’s famous Colosseum is soon going to go under reconstruction. The Colosseum reconstruction is going to cost $22.5 million and, in the end, it is going to get a retractable floor. Request for the reconstruction bid is now open.
Now, after 1000 years of existing without a floor, the Colosseum is finally going to get this retractable floor with trap doors and hidden lifts. Visitors to the newly-reconstructed Colosseum would be able to take a look at the underground, and understand an ancient world.
Not just this, but with the construction of the new floor, concerts and events would also be held here at the Colosseum. According to Dario Franceschini, the Cultural Minister of Italy, with this major technological development at the Colosseum, visitors can finally get a peep into the underground rooms, and also understand the beauty of this place.
Even to this day, the Colosseum is the largest amphitheatre that still stands. Much of this great structure got ruined due to earthquakes and stone robbers; nonetheless, it still stands as a reminder of a great era in human history.
