Standing in the middle of Gamla Stan is the Royal place which is one of the largest palaces in Europe from the 18th century. It’s the official residence of His majesty and the site where most of the monarchy's official receptions take place. It is the working place for both the king and the queen and for various other departments that make up the Royal Court. Built by architect Nicodemus Tessin, it follows baroque style and is formed as a Roman palace. It has more than 600 rooms, spread across seven floors. The state apartment in the palace faces the city, while the smaller living rooms face the inner courtyard. Spare your whole day to explore the Royal Palace as it has a lot to offer. Enter the castle and get the feel of all the fine rooms, apartments and galleries. Explore the Bernadotte rooms, the Apartments of the Orders of Chivalry and the Hall of State. In addition, do not forget to take a walk around the museums with antiques and the church. If you love reading, visit the Bernadotte Library that has got an epic royal book collection of over 100,000 books. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the parade of soldiers and daily changing of the guard.
