Rife with the memory of when Belfast was a world centre of maritime trade and shipbuilding, the Titanic Quarter is one of the world’s largest urban-waterfront regeneration projects. There’s plenty to see. The obvious draw is of course—the Titanic Belfast edifice. Once you step into the portals of the building shaped like the bow of a ship, which was constructed at a cost of £97million and opened in 2012, prepare to embark on a voyage of discovery. You learn things you didn’t even know you were interested in, until you got here—the lives of the workers who built the ship, the story of the passengers and crew who made the fateful voyage. For a moving tale—beautifully re-constructed, including the present condition of the wreck on the ocean floor—all nine galleries are deserving of your attention. While you are in the area, check out the SS Nomadic, the last remaining vessel of the White Star Line.
