In order to promote night-time tourism at Qutub Minar and also help visitors avoid queues at the entry ticket counter, the ministry of culture is now offering considerable discount on tickets. However, discounted tickets are available only for online booking or by scanning the QR code through their mobile phones.
Booking can be done at asi.payyoumoney.com. News has it that the ministry will also offer discounted tickets for other monuments located in Delhi. Meanwhile, the discounted price for a ticket to enter Qutub Minar to Indian visitors will be INR 35 instead of INR 40, whereas foreigners can get their ticket at INR 600 which is INR 50 less than the previous cost.
Furthermore, the ministry has illuminated the Qutub Minar from 7 PM to 11 PM with architectural LED lights which costs INR 16615. This initiative has been taken to encourage night tourism, and has cost approximately four crore rupees to the government.
In order to boost tourist visits at monuments across Delhi such as the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and Safdarjung Tomb have been increased to up to 9 PM.
Qutub Minar is one of the oldest surviving monuments in Delhi dating back to the year 1192. It was built by Qutb ud Din Aibak, the founder of Delhi Sultante.
The minar's uppermost storey was destroyed by lightning in 1369, and was remade by Firuz Shah Tughlaq, who got another storey added to the existing minaret. Over the years, the Qutub Minar has suffered damage due to the natural elements such as earthquake.
