How does it feel to look at acres of tea gardens all around you as far as your eye can see? Well, to get an answer to that head to Valparai. Located about 65 km from Pollachi, this place is at an altitude of 3500 feet above the sea level and can be reached via Azhiyar through a hilly road with 40 hairpin bends. This place is surrounded with greenery, tree gardens and shallow streams that altogether make it an absolute must visit. The Koolangal River is situated close to Valparai and has several pebbles on its banks and the meandering river is a beautiful sight. The water in the streams is ice cold and you can actually walk on them since it is very shallow, which is a thrilling experience. I also highly recommend that you stop for a tea break at one of the small tea stalls and sample some wonderful teas. You can also take a walk (with a guide) into the tea gardens and when the mist envelopes you, the feeling is pretty surreal.
