How would you like to travel back in time and witness the glorious days of Switzerland? A time when Heidi’s songs echoed through the meadows, when farmers left the warmth of their wooden chalets to tend cattle and when cobbled streets echoed with the clunking of horse-drawn carriages. Alpenrose is a slice of that past and its menu will warm your heart with its antiquated charm. If locals are to be believed, the meatloaf served at this cosy restaurant is straight out of your gluttonous dreams. Another mountain speciality is their egg noodle preparation (spätzli) that is topped with creamy cheese and herbs and comes with a nice side of buttery fish with caramelised carrots. Alpenrose’s veal is another classic and is loaded with vegetables. There is a nice and rather extensive wine list with names from the region and most of Europe.
