Originally built as an old English tearoom, Flurys is one of the most iconic and stylish cafes of Kolkata. Founded in 1927, by Mr. and Mrs. J. Flurys, was known far and wide for its rich creamy pastries, puddings and cookies. Today, decades down the line, the restaurant is as popular as it used to be during the colonial era and has also expanded from a single outlet to over 13 outlets peppered across the city. The iconic Flurys’ English Breakfast is a must have while you are in town. It comprises two grilled sausages, two rashes of crispy bacon, one poached egg, two slices of bread, one grilled tomato, mushroom, butter along with tea or coffee. Do not be surprised if you have to wait for an hour for this delicacy on weekends and holidays. Another must try dish is ‘on toast’, consisting of a toasted and buttered bread with a generous spread of creamy mushroom, chicken or baked beans.Over time, as tastes of customers have evolved, so has the menu. Flurys has come up with a healthier version of their breakfast, termed as Jogger’s Breakfast, where carrot/cucumber juice has replaced the fruit juice and high fibre multigrain bread has replaced the usual bread. Three egg-white omelet with spinach and onion, lean low fat, low sodium chicken sausage, rind less bacon, decaffeinated tea or coffee is also served in the platter.
The French hearts, single origin chocolates, and coffee with cream are a must have in this traditional tearoom. Often referred to as the “Queen of Park Street”, Flurys with its old world charm, continues to attract thousands of satisfied customers.
