Referring to this development, Commissioner T D Dhariyal said, all members that are part of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) have been instructed to implement the said order that has been given by the court. He also said that as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, access to public services is mandatory.
Also, as per the order, it specifies that the Tourism Ministry should “put together the relevant provisions/requirements/measurement and designs for various facilities in the hotels and restaurants irrespective of their category in a smaller booklet by extracting the same from the Harmonised Guidelines.
The order also mentions that the smaller booklet needs to be uploaded in the website of Tourism Ministry, FHRAI, and also each restaurant and hotel, and that appropriate instructions need to be issued to every restaurant and hotel owner to ensure compliance with the provisions of the act.
