Dining at Hotel des Balances is a journey in itself; a journey of intricate flavours and complex textures that will linger in your mouth for days on end. This place has been redefining ‘fine dining’ in ways like no other and a trip to Lucerne is incomplete without paying this elegant eatery a visit. The restaurant serves European fare and the names range from salmon and veal preparations to delicate gnocchi and polenta dishes. The presentation of the fare is akin to art that belongs in museums given the black plates, dainty portions and experimental garnishes and a certain Chef Andy Fluri needs to be thanked for the same. Inspired by the elements that surround us, the menu is truly exquisite. So is the selection of wines.
The restaurant overlooks the river and you could therefore gorge on delectable food with an equally tempting view. The servers are highly professional, as is expected of an address of this stature. With pretty beige walls, vintage candelabra, fresh flowers and golden chandeliers, the establishment exudes luxury and attracts the well-heeled and who’s who of the city. Hotel des Balances is for those who do not care to look towards the right hand side of the menu. Reserve a table well in advance for this overwhelming experience.
