This is Peru and they do Spanish food well. In fact, no self-righteous foodie should leave without sampling dulce-de-leche or chocolate churros. And when it comes to these sumptuous nibbles, no one does them better than Manolo, Lima. Service here is fast and cheerful. Manolo is always busy—in fact it is buzzing with tourists at most times of the day. Admittedly, the coffee here is mediocre and doesn’t compare to speciality coffee shops. But it’s easy to overlook that because the second you dip churros into your cappuccino or hot chocolate, you get to taste a little piece of heaven. Despite being the best churros in the world, they are extremely affordable. That probably explains the huge queues outside Manolo in Lima. If sweet delights are not your thing, there is no reason to despair. Manolo has some great savoury treats on the menu as well. If you’re up and about early in the day, then sample their traditional Peruvian breakfast. Their sandwiches and hot-dogs are also extremely popular with patrons and make for a great lunch.
