A restaurant of great repute, Restaurant Oblomov is one of the best names when it comes to traditional Russian food in Moscow. The restaurant is in fact attributed to cultural and historical heritage. Located in an old mansion, it evokes memories of Russian noble homes of the 19th century. The samovar with bagels right at the entrance of the restaurant will give you a feel of authenticity and the menu is a take on the history of Russian cuisine, right from the times of Ilya Ovlomov, who is the protagonist of Ivan Goncharov’s famous novel titled, Oblomov. Some of the foods that one can try here are baked meat and fish, soups and porridges, jelled veal pies, and excellent venison. During the months of summer, you can sit in the large veranda, which is surrounded by a host of old trees.
