A charming, airy restaurant serving top-notch Italian fare, Valentino is modest and is perfect for families looking for a great meal in Lucerne. The thin-crust pizzas dished out by the chefs are lovely and so are the tortellinis. If you are a fan of spaghetti and risotto, you will fall in love with Valentino’s hearty preparations. For all of the connoisseurs, there are an array of wines to choose from. The menu is extensive with adequate options for vegetarians and is like a little slice of Italy. The service is professional, the surroundings are pleasant, the portions are large and the prices are satisfactory.
With massive glass windows, potted plants, dainty lights and sturdy wooden tables, the ambience is a unique blend of modern and rustic elements. A few tables are laid out around the cobbled square and offer interesting views of Lucerne’s frescoed buildings. Since Valentino is tiny, it is perpetually crowded and it is therefore wise to reserve a table well in advance. It is a short walk from the Hotel des Balances and is pretty easy to locate. And no, this place has nothing whatsoever to do with the famed designer.
