Word to the wise: The restaurant's second floor has a wraparound picture of a padi field taken by the owner. 'Uma' means 'padi' in Indonesian.

Owner and chef Yau Chan lived in Indonesia for nearly a decade and loved Bali so much that he opened a restaurant that felt just like it. This place is always busy, with a diverse local crowd loyal to the extravagant Balinese menu. The satay meats arrive beautifully charred and full of flavour, and the fish dishes are particularly strong, with grilled tuna in coconut milk a standout.
The space itself is cosy yet sophisticated with rich wooden accents and deep, elegant hues of purple and green. You can sit up at one of the tables or stretch out on the pillowed and padded floor for a more traditional island experience.
