One of the world's spookiest sights
Greyfriars Kirkyard is one of the continent’s most famous cemeteries, and it’s all because of two small things: a ghost and a dog. Considered by many to be amongst the world’s most haunted locations, this ancient cemetery is said to be home to a restless spirit called Bloody George Mackenzie, who was buried here in 1691 and is purported to cause bruising and cuts to those who come into contact with him.
It's easy to reach from the centre. You'll find Greyfriars Kirkyard at the end of Cowgate, just a short distance from Princes Street.
