The 3 storeyed conservation shop-house where Matchbox is installed is actually a part of Ning Yeung Wui Kuan, Singapore’s oldest Chinese clan association. Built in 1822, this establishment originally acted as a temple and meeting hall for Cantonese immigrants. So the moment you check in to this place, you become a part of Singapore’s history! Some parts of the building have been renovated to accommodate modern day amenities but the original structure and courtyard features have been left unmodified. Ann Siang Road, where this property is located has a reputation of being an enclave of trendy hotels, cafés, restaurants and bars. This means that you don’t need to commute far off to find a spot to relax in the evening after a tiring but satisfying day of sightseeing. Each pod in Matchbox The Concept Hostel comes with comfortable mattress, back rest, reading light, a privacy curtain, clothe bar and personal electrical plug. Other in-house facilities include breakfast, Wi–Fi, local phone calls, bath amenities, CCTV and security alarm systems, movie selection, luggage room, laundry and ironing services.
