With its impressive and imposing structure, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art is a piece of architectural achievement in its own right. Designed to complement both the old and new facets of Nice which it would sit astride, the building takes inspiration from elements of Classicism yet is undeniably as forward-thinking as the work contained within.
Housing works of contemporary art from over 300 national and international artists of calibre, the permanent collection at the MAMAC focuses on notable art movements of the 20th century and France's role in these developments. The collection journeys from pop art works by Andy Warhol and Claes Oldenburg to the French New Realism movement with pieces by Niki de Saint Phalle, Cesar and Arman amongst others. Fluxus, Minimal Art and Dada are also offered up for your assessment and in the spirit of art for all, entrance to the museum doesn't cost a thing.
