Talk of the town: Canadian DJ and world-renowned music producer Deadmau5 sometimes turns up to play a set on the cuff.

Located in a gutted 19th-century church, this independent venue gets lively and sweaty with a crowd of up to 800 music fans. Having played host to a wide variety of famous bands over the years - from Scottish rockers Snow Patrol and Franz Ferdinand to huge international groups like Black Eyed Peas and Kaiser Chiefs - it's one of the best places in Scotland to see relatively intimate gigs by massive acts.
Live shows are always followed by one of the regular club nights from retro Rewind on Saturdays to indie-tastic Indigo on Wednesdays, which keeps the music junkies dancing til the early hours.
