A no-nonsense neighborhood bar
Word to the wise: Don't give the doorman no lip, even if he can be a bit cantankerous. This is one bar in the Big Easy where they definitely check ID.

If you're up towards City Park, hanging out on Esplanade or wandering through Treme, Pal's is a great place for a pitstop or to round off the evening. Just behind the Bayou St. John, it's a great little neighborhood bar that also boasts air-hockey, pinball, and a photo booth. The Vargas prints on the walls and gender-specific porn in the toilets adds an element of retro sauce.
Far enough from the Quarter to be tourist free, Pal's is a great mix of bohemian regulars of varying ages, and first timers that come for the Thursday quiz night, Tuesday two dollar tacos, great cocktails including their Gingerita, cheap beers and friendly patrons.
