A little local language goes a long way
Word to the wise: Women, if you hear hollers of "linda" or "guapa" called after you, don't worry: it means pretty girl.

Argentine Spanish is distinct from other Spanish you may have heard. The second person is "vos" instead of "tu", and you'll notice a softer pronunciation as a double "l" is pronounced as "sh".
There is a glut of slang in Buenos Aires called lunfardo, which will further complicate matters. Here are some Argentine words that may be used elsewhere in this guide:

Porteño: someone who lives in or is from Buenos Aires.
Parrilla: a meat grill.
Milonga: a social tango dance, though In Buenos Aires this refers to the dance halls themselves.
Asado: an Argentine barbeque - both the method of cooking and the event itself.
Chimichurri: the typical Argentine condiment of herbs, garlic and vinegar.
Boliche: a nightclub.
