Considered one of the finest educational institutes in India, Panjab University was founded in 1882 in Lahore. In 1956, the university was relocated to Chandigarh (its present campus) on a red sandstone campus designed by Pierre Jeanneret under the guidance of the legendary Le Corbusier. Read less
Considered one of the finest educational institutes in India, Panjab University was founded in 1882 in Lahore. In 1956, the university was relocated to Chandigarh (its present campus) on a red sandstone campus designed by Pierre Jeanneret under the guidance of the legendary Le Corbusier. The university offers various courses ranging from undergraduate to doctoral studies in Arts, Science and Technology, Engineering, Management, Law and Medical.Open to public, there are a few attractions in the university like the Gandhi Bhavan, designed by architect Pierre Jeanneret, and the Museum of Fine Arts. The latter houses the early works of almost all of the major artists of modern India. The museum of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology is another major attraction. The verdant campus also has a botanical garden that has been attracting visitors in large numbers.
