Another unique and socially responsible place to indulge in one of the famous Thai massages is at the Association Massage Chiang Mai of the Blind. This simple, unpretentious center doesn’t offer any of the frills you’ll find in most other massage shops but delivers high quality, therapeutic massages performed by blind men and women from the community. You’ll often hear people saying they had one of the best massages of their life hear as the trained masseuses use their heightened sense of touch and intuition to workout knots and kinks in the body. Sometimes you can tell when you get a massage that the person doesn’t know what they’re doing, but you’ll never get that feeling here! Along with receiving an excellent treatment, you’ll also be supporting these talented men and women who have a very few employment opportunities elsewhere. The massages are a steal as well. At only 130 baht, less than $5 USD for an hour-long Thai or foot massage, and just 300 baht (about $9) for an oil massage. We definitely recommend getting at least a one and a half hour massage, if not two. You certainly won’t regret it!
