A quintessential touristy experience in downtown Costa Rica – one of the coolest streets that is the cusp of modern high rises and old down town. The downtown zone begins from Las Sabanas if you are coming from the Capital San Jose, and ends where Avenida Central ends. This massive lane is a cultural hot spot with museums, plazas and squares. You will see clowns practicing juggling and stunts, pigeons thronging to squares, bakeries and small coffee shops, juxtaposed with the McDonalds, and Starbucks. Bargain well if you are buying something from here. Get in one of the cafes or restaurants with a view when it is lunch hour, and spend the evening reading a book. Petty crimes are not unheard of at this place. Avoid dark and under-lit alleys, keep your things safe with you, and do not leave them unattended. Also, avoid flashing lots of cash or shiny jewellery.
