Another spellbound trek in Uttarakhand, Chandrasheela trek is renowned for showcasing the enchanting beauty and grandeur of Himalayan peaks. Chopta, a quaint rustic village in Uttarakhand, is known as the starting point of the trek. The Chandrasheela summit trek is doable through-out the year and considered as moderate trek in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand. The duration of the trail is approximately 3-6 days. It’s an interesting trek which displays the rare glimpse of an ancient culture of the Garhwal Himalayas along with the natural hues. This charming hamlet is filled with much splendour and enchanting beauty of the evergreen pine, deodar and rhododendron trees.
The trek will take you to the world’s highest Shiva temple situated in Tungnath at an elevation of 4000 m. The 5 km trek from Chopta till Tungnath temple is an easy trail, which passes through beautiful meadows. It is a 1.5 km steep climb thereafter to reach the summit of Chandrasheela. This summit will welcome a trekker with breathtaking 360 panoramic views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks. A splendid view of Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar, Chaukhamba, and Bandarpunch is an added boon.
