Dam Square, popularly known as the Dam is located in the historic centre of Amsterdam. It is usually flooded with locals going to work and tourists waiting for those perfect photo opportunities. There are innumerable food stalls, cafés and shops to pass ones time. Koninklijk Paleis or the Royal Palace is the major centre of attraction here. A thriving hub of activities, it sees a cocktail of ferris wheels, spring carnivals, mime artists, street performers and more. Home to countless statues, it also acts as a popular venue for concerts, sports events and book fairs. Attractions such as the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), National Museum and Madame Tussauds are all clustered in the Dam Square. More than a square, it marks the liveliness and cheerfulness of the capital city of the Netherlands.
