The DGC as it is better known, is one of the top courses in India with a sterling reputation. For veteran golfers, this course is an absolute pleasure. Built by the British in 1931, it is one of the oldest golf courses in Asia, and the oldest one in Delhi. There are 2 courses here – a 18 hole course, the Lodhi course & the 9 hole Peacock course. Delhi Golf Club, originally called the “Lodhi Golf Course”, contains many Tughlak & Lodi dynasty monuments & is also home to a variety of birds and deer. The Lodhi course is a 18 hole, 7036 yard design which plays much longer from the championship tees when its made tougher for the pros. It is the busiest course in India with over 100000 rounds of golf clocked here per annum, and has a reputation for being a very unforgiving course with narrow fairways and thorny bushes alongside. The course is open to visitors, and requires a handicap certificate to play the 7036 yard, 18 hole Lodhi course, however the 9 hole peacock course has no requirements. Although free for members, refer to the website for visitor fees.
