Musicians from Asian countries to be a part of Padang Indian Ocean Music Festival

December 8 will witness the beginning of Padang Indian Ocean Music Festival 2017 (PIOMFest) in Padang, Indonesia. One of the prime features of this music festival will be the musical performances by various Asian artists from myriad countries like India, Singapore, Japan, and Indonesia. Nikhil Patwardhan and Partha Mukherjee will be representing India at this prestigious 2 days music fest that will take place in Japan.
This is the first PIOMFest that aims at bringing together members of IORA (Indian Ocean Rim Association) and their partners. This time Padang is chosen as the host city because of its proximity to the Indian Ocean as well as partner countries such as China and France.

Providing more information on the fest, Esthy Reko Astuti, Tourism Ministry’s archipelago tourism marketing development deputy said, “Other than Japan and India, Singapore will also bring plenty of musicians such as Tan Su-Hui, Sophy, Tan Su-Min, Clara and Ng Chee Yao.”
Prominent artists like Arastra from Bengkulu, Talago Buni from West Sumatra, Riau Rhytm Chambers from Pekanbaru, Taufik Adam from Jakarta, De Tradisi from Medan, Gazal Himpunan Keluarga Muhadan from Padang, Balega from Padangpanjang, Sanggar Seni Dayung Dayung from INS Kayu Tanam and Nan Tumpah Art Community from Padang will also perform in the fest.

Esthy also said, “PIOMFest will become an annual event in Padang.”

First day, the event will start at 8 PM and will go on till 10:30 PM while on 9 and 10 Dec, the event will begin from 3:30 PM and will end at 10:30 PM. The festival will be held under the Siti Nurbaya Bridge, which is an icon in Padang and will be open to the public absolutely for free.
