International Dolls Museum

Established in 1985 by Chandigarh’s Rotary Club, and run by the city’s administration, the International Dolls Museum showcases dolls and puppets from around the world—25 countries including Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Korea, Spain and Russia to be exact—and is surprisingly well maintained even to this day. Located rather inconspicuously in sector 23, you might need to use the neighbouring Bal Bhavan as a landmark to arrive at your destination (it stands just beside it), as most locals haven’t heard of it. Within, the impressive collection of dolls includes a total number of about 250 specimens, and ranges from dolls depicting Indian tribes and brides, to popular characters from Indian mythology (the Ramayana) and fairy tales like Snow White. If that’s not enough to satisfy the little ones, the working electronic toy train outside should do the job.
