The park is noted for its role in the conservation of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros and has four distinct safari zones, namely the Central Zone or Kaziranga Zone, Western Zone or Bagori Zone, Eastern Zone or Agaratoli Zone, and Burapahar Zone

Central Zone or Kaziranga Zone: The Central Zone is also known as the Kaziranga Zone. It includes the Kohora range and is the most visited zone in the park. It is the central and busiest entry point to the park and offers ample opportunities for wildlife sightings. Visitors can easily spot the rhinoceros in this zone.Western Zone or Bagori Zone: The Western Zone, also known as the Bagori Zone, is known for its picturesque beauty and diverse wildlife. It is popular for its varied landscapes, including grasslands, water bodies, and woodlands. The place is a habitat for a wide range of animal and bird species. Wildlife lovers can spot the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, elephants, tigers, and several pretty birds in this zone.
Eastern Zone or Agaratoli Zone: The Eastern Zone or the Agaratoli Zone is known for its quieter atmosphere and beautiful landscapes. It’s a perfect spot for birdwatching and visitors may also encounter various wildlife species. The zone is set along the banks of the Brahmaputra River, adding to its scenic charm.
Burapahar Zone: The Burapahar Zone or the Ghorakati Range is noted for its hilly terrain and lush greenery. This zone offers a different view of Kaziranga, featuring diverse ecosystems. Wildlife lovers visiting the Burapahar Zone may encounter species like elephants, tigers, wild buffalo, and more.
