Our favourite fun things to do this winter in Manali
Are you thinking about a trip to Manali this winter? The hill destination is a favourite for many during the summer, when things are all bright, clear and sunny. But winter is the time when things turn a little bit more magical; it’s the white, believe me. It starts snowing around November - December but it’s not the heavy kind, not just yet.

If you are in Manali to experience the winter, you already know what to expect. Nature all around looks pretty great, and the outdoors are amazing right now. Here, we have some of the experiences in Manali that you should not skip this season.
Visit the Hidimba Devi Temple
Unlike any other temples in India, this is dedicated to Hidimba (also Hidimbi), wife of Bhima and the mother of Ghatotkach. Hidimbi was the sister of the powerful demon king Hidimb, but because of her good deeds, she is considered a goddess, an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple, also known as Dungri Temple, is located in the midst of cedar forest. One of the most peaceful and beautiful temple complexes.
Explore the Mall Road
Manali Mall Road is one of the most famous Mall Roads in India. Here, you will find pretty little cafes and shops selling various winter paraphernalia. Look for the traditional Himachali shawls and jackets here. Tibetan handicraft items are also a hit among the tourists.
Check out Old Manali
Old Manali is all about nostalgia. Just a few minutes outside of the main town or the busy New Manali area, Old Manali is where you come for some peace and quiet. This riverside locality has some of the best cafes in town. On a cold winter’s day, sit in one of the cosy restaurants and enjoy the snowfall!
Hot springs and temples
For this, head to Vashisht villages, just three kilometres from Manali town. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, you can even walk to this village instead of getting a taxi. Vashisht Temple and its hot springs are the major attractions here. It is believed that the water had therapeutic properties.
Paragliding at Solang Valley
Solang Valley is located just 13 km from Manali town. While holidaying in Manali, if you find a clear sunny day, head to Solang Valley for paragliding. The dramatic view of the snow covered mountains is just unforgettable. While you are exploring the valley, do take the cable car ride too.
