Denim-lovers in Bangkok must make a stop at Siam Square’s Selvedgework. This hip store sells custom jeans to Thai hipsters and international fashionistas alike. And though they don’t come cheap, owning a pair of jeans from Selvedgework is almost like having a piece of art: the intensive process involved in creating a unique pair of fully customized jeans is remarkably pain-staking. Lucky customers get to choose everything from the style of waistband and pocket linings to buttons and seams as well as overall cut and fabric— anything to make the jeans stand out from the crowd. A new pair takes up to two weeks to finish, requiring many hours of labour and skill.
