Triveni Kala Sangam

Enroute to Bengali market from the Mandi house metro station, situated right opposite FICCI, is the Triveni Kala Sangam. A destination for aspiring artists, photographers, dancers, sculptors, Triveni also happens to be one of the first galleries and teaching centres of the city as also one of the earlier structures of noted architect Joseph Allen Stein (of IHC and IIC fame). The complex is home to the Triveni Chamber theatre, Triveni Garden theatre that is an open-air amphitheatre, the sculpture court and students hostels that have many artists in residence. The Sridharini Art Gallery is the largest of its seven art galleries. The complex serves as a hub for events, workshops and classes round the year. You could take up full-time classes or summer workshops that are being offered by seasoned artists, in clay modelling, photography, painting, sketching, instrumental and vocal music and dance. Also check out Prakriti, a terracotta shop at the entrance for some fascinating terracotta pots. The first-floor cafe at Triveni offers some delectable snacks. If you happen to walk in, chances are you could be seated next to a Rameshwar Broota or a Jitish Kallat or anyone of the many celebrated artists that frequent this place. The ambience is ideal to get your creative juices flowing.
