Costa Rica has won its way to preserving and conserving almost a quarter of a country, marked off for national parks, bio reserves and animal sanctuaries. There are four world heritage sites in Costa Rica that include two national parks, a bio reserve, and pre-Columbian settlement – La Amistad National Park, Coco Island National Park, Conservation area in Guanacaste, and Pre-Columbian Chiefdom Settlements with Stone Spheres of the Diquís. Costa Rica is also a part of RAMSAR convention. There are around 13 RAMSAR Sites that are designated as preserved natural places.
