The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a GMR-led consortium which operates the airport in Delhi, added that it has been making all efforts to make all the entry and boarding gates of Terminals 3 and 2 DigiYatra-enabled to ensure seamless and enhanced passenger experience.
DigiYatra is a digital platform that uses facial recognition technology for air travellers in India to ensure that the process of air travel becomes more convenient and efficient for passengers. It also ensures hassle-free travel, faster mobility of passengers to boarding gates, enhanced security, and dedicated gates, and all the while being completely contactless.
DIAL also issued a statement stating that Delhi has witnessed a gradual increase in DigiYatra users, since its launch on December 1, 2022. Reports have it that after the installation of the said infrastructure at Terminal 3 and Terminal 2, around 40 per cent of the daily domestic travellers will be able to experience seamless entry into the security check area, the terminal, and boarding gates.
If reports are to go by, it will help travellers save around 15-25 minutes of their time in the entire process from entry checks to security checks, as it will cut down a few seconds at every touch point. Currently, around 2,500 passengers are using DigiYatra everyday at the airport.
Reportedly, DIAL is also setting up DigiYatra-enabled entry gates at Terminal 1, which will likely become operational from April 2023.
