Bangalore airport to randomly test 2% passengers from not 'at risk' countries

Given the rising cases of Omicron variant, the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has announced to randomly test two percent of passengers coming from not in the 'at risk' category.

The Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) took to Twitter and tweeted, "As per the international travel guidelines, 2 percent of the passengers coming from countries that are not in the 'at-risk' list shall undergo random testing at the airport on arrival. The cost of random testing of such passengers will be borne by BIAL."
Apparently, on November 30, the Government of India issued a new set of guidelines for air travel amid the Omicron scare. The guidelines state that nations that are ‘not at risk’ will be allowed to leave the airport. But such travellers are asked to self-monitor their health for 14 days after arrival.

A sub-section or two per cent of the total flight passengers must be tested at random at the Bengaluru airport on arrival. The airlines would identify two percent of such travellers in each flight coming from different countries. The cost of testing shall be borne by the travellers identified for random testing themselves.
A self-declaration is also mandatory for arriving passengers.
