Delhi Tourism General Manager Geetika Sharma stated that they will focus on providing a fully immersive experience, and for that they have identified six different walks. While two are in Old Delhi, one is in Shahjahanabad, then there is the walk of Qutub Minar and Mehrauli archeological Park, a walk of Hauz Khas, and a walk of museums and memorials, Geetika added.
Minister of Tourism Delhi government Atishi will be launching the heritage walks today. The General Manager added that it will continue on Saturdays and Sundays from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
Reports have it that these guided walks will be of around three hours, and will be conducted by the government licensed guides having in depth knowledge about these circuits. These guides are accredited by the Ministry of Tourism, and have been selected after a thorough interaction process, Geetika assured.
Sharma further added that Hauz Khas for instance, the walk will cover everything, including going back to the water history of Delhi, as to how Delhites in the medieval times were getting water from Baolis, natural lakes and other water bodies. And this is how both beauty and the in-depth knowledge about all these monuments and lesser known facts will be facilitated through these heritage walks.
