Why are we excited about this?
This new bridge is being dubbed as an engineering marvel as it is one of the biggest railway projects on top of a mountain. The 725m bridge is held approximately 331m above the Anji River by a total of 96 cables. Though not the entire bridge is cable-stayed, a whopping 473 m of the bridge is. The Anji Khad Bridge is located approximately 80 kms from the Union Territory of Jammu.
It’s interesting that the inspiration, design and the technology for this bridge has been taken from the very famous Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Though the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Line will be ready only by February 2024, the Anji Khad Railway Bridge will be here soon. It will, for sure, open up several new travel experiences for travellers to the regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
