Delhiās Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has been declared the Best Airport in India and Central Asia. With this, the airport has been adjudged as the best airport for the third consecutive year. The airport was declared so by Skytrax World Airport Awards. Considered to be the most significant award for the airport industry, Delhi has been adjudged after votes by customers in the survey.
The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said, āOur agile and effective response to the pandemic and crisis preparedness has led us to be recognised by Skytrax."
The Delhi airport has also received the COVID 19 Airport Excellence Award. Its ranking has also improved, moving up to 45 in the Worldās TOP 50 Airport in the year 2021. The IGI airport was at rank 50 last year.
An interesting development at this award was that Singaporeās Changi International Airport is not on the top ranks that it held for the last nine years. The best international airport award was given to Hamad International Airport, Doha.
