Delhi's IGI Airport gets a rapid PCR test facility

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport), has now set up a rapid PCR test facility. The facility will be used by passengers, especially those who are flying to the UAE. UAE has lifted restrictions, and has made the Rapid PCR tests mandatory for travellers from India. Currently, India is operating flights from Kochi, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, and Trivandrum to the UAE.
More airlines are expected to be added as the demand for UAE is too high. As of now, travellers from India who are the residents of the country, or transit passengers, are the only two categories permitted to travel to the UAE.

The Genestring Diagnostic Centre that is set up at the IGI airport for COVID related testing, has announced that the rapid PCR test facility will be included as a facility henceforth.
Dr. Gauri Agarwal, Founder-Director of Genestrings Diagnostics Centre, told, "Acting on the latest travel guidelines issued by United Arab Emirates (UAE), Genestrings Diagnostic Centre has set up Rapid PCR test facility at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here today. The testing facility will have about 50 Rapid PCR Machines based on ID NOW technology to begin with and is looking at doubling this capacity as the demand increases. Cost per test will be INR 5000 with reports in 45-60 minutes."

She also said that passengers of Emirates, Etihad, Fly-Dubai, Vistara, Indigo, and Air India, will benefit from this new testing facility.
