Future is here! India’s first ever flying taxis will be operational soon, says IIT Prof

We all remember watching the legendary Harry Potter series. Apart from humans, the star of the movie was the flying car owned by the Weasleys! But if you thought that such cars could exist only in movies and books, then you are in for a huge surprise! Very soon India will have flying taxis and by soon we mean within 6 to 7 months, if everything goes fine.

This futuristic project will soon turn into reality, informed Professor Satya Chakravarthy from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. In an interview with a news channel, the professor talked about e200, India’s pioneering flying taxi, which will transform the world of travel.

Here are some important details about this innovative mode of transportation:

The project's objective is to develop an aircraft capable of navigating the intricate landscapes of Indian cities, each presenting its own unique logistical challenges. The aim was to create an aircraft that could effectively address these challenges. Professor Chakravarthy, from the Aerospace Engineering department, expressed the desire to design an aircraft capable of making multiple trips before requiring recharging.
He also indicated that the maiden flight is anticipated to take place around October or November this year. He also mentioned that the safety of people is paramount. He assured adherence to stringent international safety guidelines and the implementation of multifaceted safety measures.

Costlier than an Uber?

If you thought these futuristic dreams come true without a hefty amount, then you were wrong! Concept of flying taxis still carries a futuristic and upscale aura, hence, these are definitely going to be heavy on pockets. Affordability and accessibility will play crucial roles in facilitating the widespread adoption of ePlane taxis. Professor Chakravarthy envisions providing services at only twice the fare of traditional ride-hailing platforms like Uber, ensuring significant time savings for passengers.
