The Union Territory (UT) of Puducherry has planned a four-day beach festival, starting April 13. The festival is going to promote tourism, and as well as generate employment in the UT.
The festival is all set to be held at the Gandhi statue beach promenade, Chunnambar water sports complex, Paradise beach, sand dunes beach, and Gandhi tidal craft Bazar, and Pondy Marina Beach.
The UT has over the years created several facilities, mostly on the beaches for the purpose of tourism.
The Tourism Minister said in a statement, "We have made full efforts to overcome the situation created by the Covid situation and the four-day beach festival is part of this move to improve tourism in the Union Territory as well as for employment generation."
The Union Territory of Puducherry is reputed for its French quarters, and serene beaches. It is one of the most sought after destinations in the southern part of India.
