Indian Railways to come up with Vistadome coaches on select routes

Indian tourists won’t have to visit Europe to travel in Vistadome trains to enjoy the scenic beauty around. News has it that Indian Railways’ Integral Coach Factory (ICF) has finished 180kmph oscillation speed trials of new Vistadome tourist coaches in December 2020.

The new Vistadome tourist coaches to be introduced on railways tracks in India have been outfitted with a plethora of tourist-friendly amenities. They will have Wi-Fi connectivity with a passenger information system, along with rotatable seats that can rotate up to 180 degrees in the direction of the train’s movement. In addition, the coaches would have a glass roof, observation lounge for passengers to witness the beautiful locations and a larger viewing area, which includes rooftop glasses.
The glass windows of Vistadome coaches have been covered with laminated glass sheets that will prevent them from breakage. However, the coaches will operate only on specific routes that are good for enjoying sightseeing.
