The man, Christopher Chapel, had reportedly paid £17,500 (INR 17 lakh) for a round-the-world trip, which set off earlier this year. Reports have it that he was on the ship for days before he had to get off in the Philippines for a short duration to get himself checked as he was feeling lightheaded and nauseous.
Unfortunately, he could not set foot on the vessel again. Chapel actually visited the ship's doctor at first, who told him that he would not be allowed back on board, whereas the doctor also advised him to get some tests done.
Although the test results weren't of any concern, Chapel was told he had just a mild case of heatstroke. However, by the time he was done with the process, his cruise had already left the port in the Philippines.
He then contacted the cruise organisers and travel insurers following the cruise’s departure, after which he was told that his medical condition was marked as critical, making his return difficult.
Reports also have it that the doctors deemed him unfit to travel to Manila by flight, the reason why he had to take a boat further.
Further, describing this situation, he claimed that the person who sent him away from the ship didn't even examine him, and that he must have been made aware that the hospital tests would take longer than the ship would be at the port.
He concludes, "I was then stuck in a hospital bed with nothing wrong with me, it was ludicrous. I should have been allowed back on board, it wasn't a serious health issue.”
